International Travelers

We strongly advise you to check the current U.S. requirements. Official information on U.S. visa policies and procedures is available from the U.S. Department of State. (If traveling to the U.S. only for the AAAS Annual Meeting, the traveler falls under the short visit category).

Visa Waiver Program

If you intend to travel under the Visa Waiver Program, visit the official U.S. Department of Homeland Security website to complete the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) registration applications or renewals. Existing ESTA registrations remain valid through their expiration date.

If you need further help, visit our Visa Tip Sheet for step-by-step instructions, website addresses, and other information to make your visa application process successful.

COVID-19 Information

For potential travel restrictions, please review the U.S. Department of State travel website. Additionally, it is recommended that you consult the website of the nearest embassy or consulate for more information.

Effective January 26 2021, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires all air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Please check the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for the most up-to-date information ahead of your travel.
