About the 2021 AAAS Annual Meeting: The 2021 AAAS Annual Meeting is going virtual. Online meetings are different than face to face meeting, so we have created a format aimed to making more of the program available to attendees.

Scientific Session F.A.Q.
1. What are the dates and time for the conference?
The 2021 AAAS Annual Meeting virtual real-time events will take place February 8-11, with related pre-released materials available starting in late January.
2. What is a Respondent? Can they hold another role or can they be from the same institution?
This is an individual who will take part in spotlight discussions with individual speakers where they raise their own questions about the work, as well as contributing to the live session by presenting questions collected prior to that session as well as assisting with the collection and communication of audience questions.
The respondent and moderator should be two different individuals as they will have different roles. The respondent can also be the same for all panelist or different if they are from a different institution than the panelist. The organizer can also fulfill the respondent role. The respondent must be well versed in all of the panelists’ research.
3. What will the scientific sessions look like in a virtual format?
Each session will comprise of 3-20 min prerecorded videos of each speaker. Then over February 8-11, 2021 we will hold 35min live sessions with all speakers to answer questions submitted.
4. How does COVID-19 play in the theme and will that be a main focal point of the 2021 meeting?
We believe COVID-19 will surely discussed in multiple sessions and has been identified as a research challenge as part of the 2021 Annual Meeting theme , “Understanding Dynamic Ecosystems.” The AAAS Program Committee is also committed to ensuring a wide range of scientific fields and diverse viewpoints and will not only focus on COVID-19.
5. Will there be a virtual exhibit hall or sponsorship opportunities for 2021 Annual Meeting?

6. What will make an proposal as strong as possible to the program committee?
Diversity of panel- that includes gender, race, ethnicity, field of study, institutions—data driven, confirmed speakers.
7. Who can help review proposals?
