Accessibility and Inclusion Resources
Real-time Captioning at Plenary Sessions
All plenary sessions will be simultaneously webcast with open captions. This makes the plenary sessions accessible for audience members who identify as having a hearing impairment, and it also improves conditions for individuals who have difficulty hearing. For those attending in-person, instructions will be provided on how to access the captions from your computer, smart phone, or tablet.
ASL Interpreters
Attendees should request sign language interpreters for the Annual Meeting by January 22, 2025. Interpreters are available for those registered to attend scientific sessions, seminars, topical and plenary lectures, business meetings, and workshops.
For all other events, arrangements with the interpreter can be made separately at the individual’s cost. To request an interpreter, please complete the accessibility and inclusion section on your online meeting registration form.
Mobility Devices (Scooters, Wheelchairs and Rollator Walkers)
AAAS will reserve a mobility device for the Annual Meeting registrants who submit a request by January 22, 2025. Please answer the accessibility and inclusion section on your online meeting registration form to reserve a scooter if needed.
If you need to update your assistance needs, please log back into your existing registration or contact us at meetings@aaas.org.
Inclusive Facilities
Restrooms are available for use by all persons, regardless of gender identity. These restrooms also function as a family restroom or as a restroom for disabled persons traveling with a companion. These facilities are conveniently located adjacent to gender specific restrooms on every level of the convention center.
Mother’s Room
The Hynes Convention Center has a Mamava Nursing Pod for breastfeeding and pumping (does not have a changing station, use the family restroom near every restroom on all floors). You will need to download this app to access the pod.
Reflection Room
AAAS has a room set aside to support your wellbeing as you attend the conference. This quiet space can be used for reflection, meditation or practicing your faith. The location of the room will be posted closer to the meeting on this page as well as on the map in the meeting app.
