Griffin Museum of Science and Industry
FREE ADMISSION FOR AAAS ANNUAL MEETING ATTENDEES
Thursday, February 18 and Sunday, February 21, 2027
Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere, offers world-class and uniquely interactive experiences that support the Museum’s mission: to inspire the inventive genius in everyone. Along with legacy exhibits like Coal Mine, U-505 Submarine and Science Storms, the Museum recently launched exciting new experiences, including the recently renovated Henry Crown Space Center and permanent exhibit Powering the Future, which explores how energy shapes our daily lives with hands-on interactives like the ComEd Coil, a multi-story spiral slide.
The building Griffin MSI is housed in was constructed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition as the Palace of Fine Arts, and it is the only building from the “White City” that remains at the site. When the Museum opened its doors on June 19, 1933, it was the first interactive museum in North America.
AAAS 2027 attendees can visit the Museum for free with promo code AAAS2027. Additional experiences including an on-board tour of the U-505 submarine, screenings in the Giant Dome Theater and access to temporary exhibits can be added at an additional cost.
Address: 5700 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60637
